The Perks of Living on a Pond

What? I was just chasing my ball around in the water.

Be Careful What you Eat | Lucy's First Hospitalization

It has been a whirlwind the past 24 hours. I came home from business in Florida Tuesday evening to my little pup wagging her tail. Little did I know that 6 hours later we would be in the emergency room. The doctors aren't quite sure what it was, or when it happened, but she got something stuck in her tummy and she couldn't pass it through. A few hours and some surgery later, she has been on her own version of a hunger strike. I'm keeping a close eye on her and we really hope she gets back to her delinquent self soon. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and for calling/texting/facebooking to see how she is doing.

Lucy's First Snow | Diary of a Westie Puppy

We knew it could go either way. Up until now Lucy has been a selective prima donna.

She will only go outside in the rain with an umbrella but doesn't seem to mind the cold much. She will only eat her treats if you break them up into little pieces. And don't even think of giving her a cookie type treat because she only eats soft ones.

Last year when she arrived in early February, there were small patches of snow on the ground and she refused to even walk on it. She was only 8 weeks old and came from North Carolina so I don't really count it as her first big snow.

When we woke up this morning and looked out the window we couldn't wait to see whether she was going to be one of those dogs that dives head first into the snow and plays(like NORMAL dogs) or if she was going to refuse(as she did as a baby) to even step on it.

As you can tell from the pictures below. She wasn't having it. She spent most of the morning growling at the snow...yes..GROWLING out the window at it. I bribed her outside with some treats and the only way she would even walk on it was when I threw the treats out on it. And even then...she refused to get two of them. Then, she even followed me back into the house willingly.

So I guess we have our answer. Lucy and I will officially be spending winters in Miami just as soon as I figure it out.
